IPTV Android TV Box Setup (Google TV, Shield and Phones)
The IPTV Android TV box setup is the easiest of any device: install a player from Google Play, type your login, and watch. It works the same on Google TV, the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA Shield and Android phones.
What will I do in the IPTV Android TV box setup?
Three gates: install a player app, log in with the details we send, then pick a channel. No developer settings and, with most apps, no activation fee.
Android TV and Google TV have Google Play built in, so you skip the Downloader steps a Firestick needs. Tick each step below as you go; your progress is saved on this device and shown in the side panel.
How do I install the app from Google Play?
For IPTV on an Android box or IPTV on Android TV, open Google Play on the TV, search for TiviMate and install it. That's Gate 1.
Prefer a simpler home screen? IPTV Smarters or XCIPTV work the same way: install, choose Xtream Codes login, type the three details. Compare them on the IPTV apps page.
Does IPTV on Google TV and the Google TV Streamer work the same way?
Yes. IPTV on Google TV uses the same apps, because Google TV is Android TV with a different home screen.
The only change is where things are. On Google TV, press the Search tab or the microphone button and say "TiviMate"; the app page opens in Google Play. For Google TV Streamer IPTV, it's the same: the Streamer runs Google TV and plays 4K and HEVC, so pick the 4K channel versions if your TV is 4K. Many Sony, TCL, Philips and some Hisense TVs also run Google TV, so these steps work on the TV itself with no box at all.
How does Chromecast Google TV IPTV work?
Chromecast with Google TV has its own remote and Google Play, so you install TiviMate on it directly, exactly like the gates above.
Google stopped selling it new in 2024 and replaced it with the Google TV Streamer, but existing ones still run the apps. Storage is small, so keep few apps installed. Older Chromecasts without a remote can't install apps; for those, you cast from a phone app instead, which is less reliable for live TV.
Is NVIDIA Shield IPTV with TiviMate worth it?
If you already own one, yes. NVIDIA Shield IPTV is smooth, and NVIDIA Shield TiviMate is a favourite pairing for channel surfing.
The Shield has a strong processor, a network port for a steady wired connection, and plays 4K and HEVC. It's an older, pricier box, so if you're buying new, compare it with a Fire TV Stick 4K Max or a Google TV device first. The setup is identical to the three gates. Want TiviMate's recording on a Shield? That needs TiviMate Premium and some storage space.
Which Android phone IPTV app should I use?
For IPTV on Android phones, use a phone-friendly player such as IPTV Smarters or XCIPTV. TiviMate is built for TV screens and may not show in Google Play on a phone.
Log in with Xtream Codes, the same three details as your TV. Remember each login works on one device only, so watching on your phone as well as the TV needs a 2 Devices pass. On mobile data, choose HD rather than 4K to save your allowance.
Should I log in with Xtream Codes or M3U?
Xtream Codes. It loads live TV, films, series and the TV guide in one go, with three short details instead of a long link.
Use the M3U link only if your app doesn't offer Xtream Codes. Copy and paste it rather than typing it, because one wrong character stops it working. The full difference is explained on the apps page.
My Android box isn't working. What are the fixes?
Restart the box by unplugging it for a minute, then check the three below. They cover most problems.
Storage full
Uninstall apps you don't use and clear the player's cache in .
Out-of-date software
Update the box in its system settings, and update the player in Google Play.
Black screen or stutter
In the player's settings, switch the video decoder between hardware and software, or pick the HD version of the channel.
It's usually the connection, not the box. Run the Irish broadband check, and use a network cable if your box has a port.

Quick answers. Tap a question.
Which Android box is best for IPTV?
One with a fast processor, enough storage and Google Play, such as an NVIDIA Shield or a Google TV Streamer. A network port helps too. Avoid cheap unbranded boxes, which often run old software and lag.
Can I use TiviMate on an Android phone?
TiviMate is made for TV screens, so it may not be offered in Google Play on a phone. Use IPTV Smarters or XCIPTV on the phone with the same Xtream Codes login instead.
Is Google TV the same as Android TV?
Nearly. Google TV is Google's newer home screen built on Android TV. The apps and the setup are the same; only the menus look different.
Do I need to sideload apps on Google TV?
Usually not. TiviMate and other players install straight from Google Play. Only sideload an app if we point you to the maker's official file, and never install unknown files.
Why does my Android box lag?
Usually full storage, old software or a weak processor. Clear the cache, remove unused apps and update. If it still lags, the box may simply be too slow for 4K; try FHD.
